The whole world is today awakened to the wonderful wisdom of Yoga; The first call to the global human mind was made by Swami Vivekananda. That call stirred the world to look at India as a source of knowledge. However when Swami Sivananda established Divine Life Society, little did our country realize the impact this movement will create in the future of human evolution.

In 1963 Bihar School of Yoga was founded by Sri Swami Satyananda at the behest of his Guru’s mandate to take yoga from door to door and shore to shore. Bihar School of Yoga has served humanity incessantly and has become a focal point for mass return of humanity towards a global yogic culture.
The world tours of Sri Swami Satyananda between 1960 – 1980 won the hearts of millions of people across countries, culture, language, and affiliations. If today in any corner of the world anyone is practising, teaching or researching about yoga the credit goes to the parampara of Swami Sivananda.
Bihar School of Yoga has just celebrated its golden jubilee year (1963-2013) which culminated in “The World Yoga Convention” in October 2013. The grand event was just proof of the mass return of humanity to the grand tradition of Yoga. 24,000 people from 56 countries and 22 states of India participated & witnessed the proceedings of the convention.
Satyananda Yoga Centre, Triplicane is delighted to bring to you this message of a Golden Tradition. In 2014 SYC intends to conduct at least 500 enlightening sessions in Chennai to distribute the “Gems of Wisdom” of Bihar School of Yoga to the people of Chennai.
